Statement of Cal Poly Pomona President Soraya M. Coley Condemning Acts of Antisemitism in the Los Angeles Region
October 24, 2022
Cal Poly Pomona condemns and actively opposes antisemitism in all its forms. Recent acts of antisemitic hate in the Los Angeles region are not only offensive and inexcusable, but also dangerous. On behalf of the students, faculty and staff of Cal Poly Pomona, I express our unwavering support for Jewish members of our university community and for all those targeted by these hateful acts.
One of our greatest and most enduring strengths as a university is our location. We are fortunate to serve one of the most diverse and dynamic regions of the country. Purveyors of hate speech and bigotry would seek to divide our communities and rob us of the richness that comes from our distinct backgrounds and experiences. As an institution of learning, we won’t allow that to happen. As a pillar of our mission, we act in opposition to hate so that the transformative power of education may be enjoyed by all.
To those impacted by these events, I urge you to take advantage of the full breadth of university resources available to you.
