FuturePaths: Career and Professional Readiness Model
Under the leadership of President Soraya Coley, there has been a concerted effort over the past six years to develop a career and professional readiness model that will prepare our students for the future of work, and human and civic engagement. The culmination of that work is what we are currently calling FuturePaths: A Career and Professional Readiness Model. The model aims to intentionally embed career and professional readiness competencies in curricular and co-curricular experiences of students. Aligned with Cal Poly Pomona’s Strategic Plan and the Academic Master Plan, the model seeks to support the success of our students beyond commencement, ensuring that they have meaningful careers. More specifically, the model provides a way for CPP to achieve Strategic Plan Initiative 3: To prepare our students for the future of work, & human and civic engagement by ensuring that
- Students demonstrate essential skills and competencies that prepare them for a variety of dynamic and rapidly changing professional experiences;
- Students have sequenced academic and co-curricular experiences supported by coordinated planning among the colleges, academic programs, the Career Center, and Alumni Relations; and
- The university fosters expanded student engagement in interdisciplinary research and community-based projects.
