Rudy Duran is the Vice President, Customer Support for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, effective June 2019. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring the health of the world’s largest fleet of commercial jetliners – more than 14,000 airplanes. Based in Southern California, he oversees a global team of nearly 2,000 aerospace professionals across multiple disciplines that help more than 800 operators maintain their fleets throughout airplanes’ lifecycle.
Customer Support capabilities include service, maintenance, and retrofit engineering assistance; airframe support; round-the-clock technical support; round-the-clock operations center expertise; field service; process improvement support; product development support; and maintenance publications.
Prior to leading Customer Support, Duran led the Engineering Design Center in Long Beach, CA, serving as the engineering leader in Southern California. Earlier, he served as Director for Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E), a business segment of Boeing Engineering, Operations and Technology (EO&T). In this role, he was responsible for managing a portfolio of test programs across the flight and lab test value streams and was the BT&E interface with senior leaders in the Network & Space Systems business and included the C-17 test program.
From 2000 to 2013, Duran held various Test Program Manager, Lead or Integration Lead roles for multiple lab/flight test programs in both commercial and military programs. Those programs included Test Program Manager for the 787-8, Test and Evaluation Integrated Product Team leader on the C-17 program and lead Test Integration Engineer on the Boeing C-130 Avionics Modernization Program.
Duran previously served in various leadership roles across several commercial programs at McDonnell Douglas, including MD-80, MD-90, MD-11, and the 717 airplanes. He received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona.
