Power up at the Library

Sweat pours down your forehead, and your pulse races higher when you see the dreaded words, “Battery power low,” warning on your computer or smartphone.
The necessity and convenience of technology for classes and classwork, as well as personal needs, means students need to recharge regularly. The reality is that a battery can only last for so long throughout the day.
Finding a place to sit and recharge is one option, but it may not always work if students have to be on the go.
On the feedback board at the library entrance, one of the most common comments asks for more plugs throughout the library to keep laptops, tablets, and smartphones topped up throughout the day. While adding more power outlets is an extensive infrastructure request, the library has found alternative ways to meet the need for charging.
We hear you AND are pleased to share that in addition to standard outlets, there are three alternative ways to power up at the library.
- The library has mobile charging stations on all the floors with connectors for various devices. (photo at the top of the article)
- The library has multiple on-the-go mobile hexagon chargers available. Scan the QR code on the device for instructions, but they can be accessed here and returned at any of the other charging stations on campus. (vendor fees apply)
- Students and staff can now check out a portable OmniCharge for free as part of library technology lending. The new portable OmniCharge chargers have outlets for USB-C, USB-A, wireless, a 100-watt AC port, and a 100-watt DC port, perfect for charging all kinds of tech on the go.
As a part of our technology lending program, the library offers portable OmniCharge chargers that have outlets for USB-C, USB-A, wireless, a 100-watt AC port, and a 100-watt DC port, perfect for charging all kinds of tech on the go.
You can check out a portable charger from the second-floor circulation desk for three hours, just sign a technology lending form once, and you can borrow any items short-term that are part of the library’s tech lending program. Services like this help bridge the technology gap and give students an equal chance for success.
The University Library is happy to help students bridge the technology gap, ensuring that they have access to the tools they need for success in their coursework.
If you have any questions regarding the tech lending program, stop by the 2nd Floor circulation desk or contact Catherina Riesgo at (libcirc@cpp.edu).
