Peter Olson teaches several courses related to literacy theory and practice at Cal Poly Pomona. He received his Ph.D. in Education from UCLA. He has published several articles on literacy instruction, including research that investigated the reading improvement of students who acted as peer tutors. Dr. Olson has given many presentations at academic conferences. He has presented on literacy-related topics, such as the use of games in phonics instruction and the depiction of Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender characters in children’s books. Dr. Olson previously worked as a classroom teacher in Los Angeles. He has served as a teacher or teacher supervisor in every grade from Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade.
