Bio

Dr. Nastaran Simarasl is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at Cal Poly Pomona. She was a Visiting Scholar at WHU, Otto Beisheim School of Management, Vallendar, Germany in 2023. Her research on entrepreneurship in understudied contexts has been accepted and published in Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Family Business Review, and Business Horizons, to name a few. She is the primary Faculty Advisor of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) Club on campus. She is passionate about promoting entrepreneurship in Pomona. She has offered consulting services to the Pomona Chamber of Commerce and other local non-profits with her students and through her business consulting classes.   

 

Before becoming a professor, she worked as a Project Manager in an organizational alliance between two universities. She also worked as a Senior Researcher, leading, designing, and implementing research projects to enhance Iran’s entrepreneurship ecosystem at Iran’s Ministry of Commerce. In addition, she previously owned and managed her insurance agency office.

 

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, working out, volunteering, traveling, and conversing about history, politics, and philosophy with her husband. She is currently commissioned at the College of Business to develop a new course on “How to Live A Good Life,” which has given her ample opportunity to read and learn about Aristotle and his teachings.
