Margarita McCoy Seminar and Scholarship Award Ceremony

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP) cordially invites you to attend Margarita McCoy Seminar and Scholarship Award Ceremony. With generous donations from the McCoy family and other donors, URP department is pleased to select the first recipient of the Margarita P. McCoy Scholarship in Urban Planning. In celebration of the establishment of the scholarship and in memory of Margarita P. McCoy, URP invites Dr. Lisa Ann Schweitzer, the winner of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) 2016 Margarita McCoy Award, for a public lecture.

Margarita P. McCoy (1923 – 2016) was a professor and chair of URP from 1976 to 1989. She was the first woman to chair a university department of urban planning in the United States.  During her 50-year career, she pressed university departments nationwide to open their doors to women and minorities.
