Heather Roberge is the founder and principal of design practice MURMUR, established in 2008 in Los Angeles, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture and Urban Design at UCLA, where she currently serves as Chair.

MURMUR is committed to the production of stimulating built environments that engage people intellectually, socially, and physically. The work expands material and building tradition with the opportunities afforded by digital technologies and committed to careful craftsmanship and inventive material assembly. MURMUR’s work has been recognized nationally through awards, exhibitions and publications, including Los Angeles AIA design awards in recognition of innovative design concepts. In 2014, the Vortex House was nominated for the prestigious Mies Crown Hall of Americas Emerging Architecture Prize. Ms. Roberge was selected by the Architectural League of New York for the 2016 Emerging Voices program, named a Next Progressive in Architect magazine in 2015, and was a finalist in the MoMA|PS1 Young Architects Program in 2006. Ms. Roberge’s work has appeared in A+U, Praxis, Metropolis, I.D., Japan Esquire, Architectural Record, Log, 306090, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times. Ms. Roberge earned her Master of Architecture from the Ohio State University and has previously taught at Washington University in St. Louis, the Knowlton School at OSU, Pratt Institute, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. From 1999 to 2006, she was a partner in the design practice, Gnuform.
