Cal Poly Pomona is offering two online seminars to help you complete your Teaching Performance Assessment. 

Required Courses

  2. CalTPA Performance Self-Assessment
  3. CalTPA Rubric and/or Benchmark/Exemplar Review and Analyses
  4. Targeted CalTPA Focused Supports
  5. Completion of CalTPA Individualized Preparation Plan

Spring 2025
January 13th, 2025 | Time: 8 AM. - 6 PM.

 Registration info 

For Cal Poly Pomona students that qualify for the TPA secondary passing standard per   PSA 24-02

  1. CalTPA Instructor Appointment
  2. Evaluation of Candidate Qualifications for the Secondary Passing Standard (CalTPA Scores, RICA Scores for Multiple Subject and Education Specialist Applicants, and Transcript)
  3. Assessment of CalTPA Performance
  4. Assessment of TPE Performance (Former Individual Development Plan, Clinical Practice Evaluations/Observations, Course Assignments) to Identify and Document Evidence of Demonstrating Competency in All Domains of the TPEs for the Credential Sought. 
  5. Completion of Updated Individual Development Plan Reflecting TPA Performance and Evidence from Other Sources Supporting a Preliminary Credential Recommendation Under the Secondary Passing Standard.
  6. Completion of Teacher Performance Assessment Verification Form CL-911.
  7. Initiate Application for the Preliminary Credential.

Spring 2025
January 13th, 2025 | Time 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM 

 

 Registration info 

Students who would like expert coaching while preparing their California Teaching Performance Assessment (CalTPA) submission.
TPA Seminar II is for teacher candidates resubmitting CalTPA Cycles 1 or 2.

TPA SEMINAR II - Task Resubmission

  1. Explore content, strategies and resources to enhance CalTPA submissions.
  2. Review the CalTPA benchmarks/exemplars and rubrics and assessor feedback to understand CalTPA evidence and response requirements
  3. Complete a self-assessment identifying areas of strength and weakness in their TPA submission(s)
  4. Develop an individual preparation and resubmission plan.
  5. Complete and submit the assignments and activities specified in their individualized preparation and submission plan to receive a formal letter/certificate of completion

For the Seminar, you will work independently with the instructor.  S/he will provide online coaching and support for preparing and submitting your California Teacher Performance Assessment. In addition, you will be able to share strategies with other students who are preparing their tasks for submittal.

Jeanie McHatton has over 50 years of experience serving as a public-school teacher, Reading Resource Teacher, assistant principal and Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She was the former Director of Student teaching for Whittier College and currently serves as a university supervisor, CalTPA remediation specialist and administrative coach. Her areas of focus include effective teaching/learning pedagogy, literacy and teacher and administrator development. In addition to education, she loves traveling with her husband, spending time with her 5 grandkids, and shopping.
