Global Education Institute Hosts the Visiting Delegation from Babcock University, Nigeria

On Thursday October 10, 2019, Global Education Institute (GEI) of the College of the Extended University (CEU) hosted a visiting delegation led by Professor Ademola Tayo, President of Babcock University in Nigeria.  Established in 1959, Babcock University is the leader in Nigeria in offering an education that inspires hope and transforms lives.  The university has also earned an award as the Best Private University in Africa.

Dr. Sylvia Alva, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, welcomed the delegation on behalf of President Coley and the entire university administration.  Dr. Olukemi Sawyerr, Assistant Vice President for Academic Innovation, gave a presentation on “Learn-by-Doing Philosophy at Cal Poly Pomona”.   Dr. Cheryl Wyrick, Interim Dean and Senior International Officer of College of the Extended University and International Center, and Dr. Lisa Kessler, Interim Dean of Don. B. Huntley College of Agriculture attended the cooperation discussion with the visiting delegation.

The purpose of the visiting delegation was to learn from Cal Poly Pomona about the “Learn by Doing” philosophy and practice, and establish an institutional partnership with Cal Poly Pomona for academic cooperation and exchange in the areas of engineering, agriculture, education and other disciplines for faculty and students.
