Mandated Fire Alarm Testing Scheduled at Three Buildings Starting at 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15
Summary of disruption: The College of Education and Integrative Studies (Building 6), the W. Keith and Janet Kellogg University Art Gallery (Building 35A) and the Facilities Planning & Management Training Center (Building 49) will undergo state-mandated testing of fire alarm systems beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15. Testing is expected to be completed by 2:30 p.m.
Reason for disruption: Comply with state laws and ensure that fire alarms and strobe lights are working properly.
How does this affect me? Horns and strobe lights will be activated from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Silent testing of alarms starts at 7:45 a.m. The HVAC system will be temporarily shut down during testing. Elevators will not be affected.
What do I need to do? Avoid being in the building during audible testing. If fire alarms are heard after the scheduled testing period, evacuate the building. Please share this information with others in the buildings who may have not received this message.
