Caltrans Announces Intermittent Overnight Closures of SR-71 Freeway Starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, March 24

Summary of disruption: Intermittent overnight full closure of a northbound and southbound section of the SR 71 Freeway between Peyton Drive in Chino Hills to Mission Boulevard in Pomona will start at 10 p.m. on Friday, March 24. Drivers should expect delays and look for posted detours. All work is subject to change due to weather or construction-related issues. The closures may start and end later than scheduled, subject to weather and work conditions. The freeway is expected to fully reopen by 5 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29.   

The dates, times and locations of the on-ramp and off-ramp closures are:  

Friday, March 24 from 10 p.m. to Saturday, March 25 at 9 a.m.

Northbound SR-71 full freeway closure from Peyton Drive to Valley Boulevard/Holt Avenue.

Chino Avenue on-ramp to northbound SR-71 Freeway closed.

Garey Avenue on-ramp to northbound SR-71 Freeway closed.

Rio Rancho Road on-ramp and off-ramp to northbound SR-71 Freeway closed.

Mission Boulevard on-ramp to northbound SR-71 Freeway closed.

Westbound SR-60 Freeway connector to northbound SR-71 Freeway closed.

Saturday, March 25 from 11 p.m. to Sunday, March 26 at 10 a.m.

Southbound SR-71 full freeway closure from Valley Boulevard/Holt Avenue off-ramp to Mission Boulevard on-ramp.

Southbound SR-71 Valley Boulevard/Holt Avenue east and west on-ramps closed.

Southbound SR-71 Mission Boulevard on-ramp closed.

Southbound SR-57 connector to Southbound SR-71 closed.

Eastbound I-10 Freeway connector to southbound SR-71 closed.  

Monday, March 27 from 10 p.m. to Tuesday, March 28 at 6 a.m.

Southbound SR-71 full freeway closure from Valley Boulevard/Holt Avenue off-ramp to Mission Boulevard on-ramp.

Southbound SR-71 Valley Boulevard/Holt Avenue east and west on-ramps closed.

Southbound SR-71 Mission Boulevard on-ramp closed.

Southbound SR-57 connector to southbound SR-71 closed.

Eastbound I-10 connector to southbound SR-71 closed.

Tuesday, March 28 from 9 p.m. to Wednesday, March 29 at 5 a.m.

Northbound SR-71 full freeway closure from Peyton Drive to Valley Boulevard/Holt Avenue.

Northbound SR-71 Chino Avenue on-ramp closed.

Northbound SR-71 Garey Avenue on-ramp closed.

Northbound SR-71 Rio Rancho Road on-ramp and off-ramp closed.

Northbound SR-71 Mission Boulevard on-ramp closed.

Westbound SR-60 connector to northbound SR-71 closed.

Reason for disruption: The closure will allow Caltrans crews to perform pothole repair work. The work is part of the SR-71 Expressway to Freeway Conversion Project. Real-time traffic information can be found at http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/.   

What do I need to do? Expect delays and follow detour signs. Slow down and proceed with caution when approaching the freeway closure. Allow extra time to get to destinations.
