Student Ideas Implemented by Hotel Group
Ayers Hotels Partners with Collins Students
Students from Dr. Linchi Kwok’s HRT 499 class got to implement Cal Poly Pomona’s learn-by-doing motto with a project involving Ayers Hotels.
Teams of four developed and presented social media marketing plans to the Corporate Director of Revenue and Marketing for Ayers Hotels of Southern California, Matt Hildebrant, who chose the winning team: Lauren Castrellon, Brenda Magdaleno, Kenneth Sarti and Shaylene Seal.
"We used original marketing ideas during our brainstorming session and tactics from other companies and combined them to execute a plan that we were proud of," said Magdaleno. "It was by far one of the best projects I have worked on. It was challenging yet rewarding."
Hildebrant was so impressed with the students’ work that he said Ayers Hotels's social media team will implement some of the ideas presented.
"The students were a great group to work with and very knowledgeable. Many took it a step further to come visit our locations to ensure their project’s success." said Hildebrant. "They sent emails, asked questions and were a true pleasure."
The unique opportunity was made possible through a partnership with Don Ayers, principal of Ayers Hotels and member of the Collins College’s Board of Advisors. Part of the Board’s mission is to create professional development opportunities for students.
