Political Science Department Open Position
Faculty Position Announcement: Part-Time/Temporary Lecturers
College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences
The Political Science Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites lecturers to become members of our part-time temporary lecturer pool. Specializations in American Government, and periodically courses in Race and Ethnicity, Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Philosophy, Public Administration, Public Law, and Research Methods are especially welcomed.
Minimum Qualifications
- For political science courses, ABD in Political Science or subfield thereof required by date of application;
- For positions teaching race and ethnicity courses, ABD in Ethnic Studies or a related field may be considered;
- For positions teaching public law courses, a J.D. and appropriate experience may be considered;
- For courses teaching public administration courses, ABD in a doctoral program with a PA emphasis and/or MPA (by date of application) or other master’s level degree directly related to the subject being taught and experience in government or nonprofit organizations required;
- For all courses, teaching experience with evidence (from letter of recommendation, teaching evaluations, etc.) of teaching excellence preferred.
Appointments
Part-time, temporary lecturer appointments are usually made for one academic semester (approximately 15 weeks) at fractions usually ranging from 4/15 to 12/15 of full-time; multiple semester appointments are possible. Incumbents may be reappointed to subsequent semester contingent upon funding and favorable performance evaluations.

- the names and contact information of three individuals who can provide references. Note that successful applicants will be required to provide three recent (dated within the past two years and at least one written within 12 months of the application) letters of reference;
- an official transcript (“Issued to Student” is not considered an official transcript) from an accredited educational institution showing highest degree earned.

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
