LA Escena
Successful first Hispanic Classical Festival of Los Angeles, LA Escena Festival, co-sponsored by CLASS
LA Escena included staged classical pieces of Golden Age Hispanic Theater (16th & 17th centuries), among them Miguel de Cervantes "entremeses," Lope de Vega's "El principe ynocente," and modern-day adaptations of Golden Age Spanish Drama by LA playwrights. The festival took place September 21-23, 2018, and was organized by the UCLA team Diversifying the Classics, directed by Barbara Fuchs, and integrated by UCLA graduate students and UCLA, USC, and Cal Poly Pomona faculty, among them Assistant Professor Marta Albalá Pelegrín.
