Almanza Presents at CATESOL San Gabriel Chapter Conference

English major Adrian Almanza presented his research — on how discourse patterns are the future of education that embraces and adjusts to diversity — at the CATESOL San Gabriel Chapter Conference on Saturday, April 29.
Almanza looked at the syntactical and grammatical writing of ESL students in Hong Kong and EFL students in Mainland China that can help English teachers incorporate classroom tools that allow for diverse writing which focuses on “readability” for multilingual students. Additionally, the role of teachers, specifically, Nonnative English Speaking Teachers of writing are an added asset in the classroom that aids diversity by understanding the discourse communities of multilingual students.
