Berlinda Crawford presented with a colleague during the Wall of Cool. Where presenters shared a poster with their research. Their presentation was titled: Supporting Student Success Through Inclusive Language in CPP's Academic Policy.

"In fall 2023, a team of CPP Retention & Graduation Specialists (RGS), including CEIS’ Berlinda Crawford, surveyed CPP students who were currently in the Academic Probation process to better understand their perspective and preference on the “Academic Probation” terminology. Of the students who responded to the survey, 70% preferred a term other than probation. When asked about what feelings students associated with the current terminology, “probation”, 76% of students associated it with anxiety, 70% with shame, and 52% with sadness. As a result of the data collected, the team of RGS’ have submitted an Academic Senate referral to change the terminology of “Academic Probation” to “Academic Notice”, a term that fosters a more supportive and inclusive environment for students facing academic challenges. This change aims to better reflect the educational context and convey a more supportive and proactive approach to addressing academic challenges." Says Berlinda.

Dr. Eddie Partida presented during the Five Minute Light Talks, that where short discusstions. Dr. Partida's presentation was titled, Nurturing a Classroom Ecology to Improve Engagement, Support, and Success in Your Classroom.
