Dr. Marisol Diaz Awarded 2024-2025 CEMaST Faculty Fellow

Dr. Marisol Diaz, Early Childhood Studies, Assistant Professor has been selected as the CEMaST Faculty Fellow for 2024-2025. The goals of the faculty fellow program are to  support CPP faculty in discipline-based educational research and STEM-related outreach to K-12 settings, encourage CPP faculty to collaborate with CEMaST on projects consistent with our mission, and build community with faculty across STEM and STEM-related fields.

“As a former elementary teacher, I come from a critical multidisciplinary approach to content, learning, and teaching. I applied for this fellowship with the goals of looking to build partnerships with elementary schools and research opportunities among other colleagues at our campus.” Dr. Diaz says.

Dr. Diaz and a colleague (from another institution) and were also accepted to present at RJEMTalk . It is the first national meeting of Racial Justice in Early Mathematics, Their presentation is titled Critical Consciousness as a Path Towards Developing Students’ Identities Capable Math Thinkers and Doers in Early Childhood Education and Beyond: A Ten Year Later Analysis.
