CBA Dean’s Research Seminar Series (2024-25)

The inaugural College of Business Administration (CBA) Dean’s Research Seminar Series features research talks by outstanding CBA faculty members. Distinguished external scholars are invited to build intellectual community. To promote the culture of open inquiry, sharing, and collaboration, we welcome faculty members and graduate students from local universities to participate in these sessions.

Bio:  

Dr. Deepti Agrawal will be joining CPP as an Assistant Professor of Computer and Information Systems (CIS). She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems from the University of Memphis. Her research and teaching are driven by her belief that information is today’s most valuable currency. She is particularly interested in the adoption and utilization of emerging technologies and behavioral information security. She has a keen interest in research methods including quantitative methods, qualitative methods, data scraping, and analytics. In the classroom, Dr. Agrawal is known for her dynamic teaching style and commitment to student success.  She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in courses, including Information Security, Data Analytics, and Management Information Systems. Outside of her professional work, Dr. Agrawal enjoys hiking and practicing yoga.

Bio:  

Dr. Maria Ortiz is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Her research focuses on socially responsible behavior and online decision-making. Her work has been published in Psychology & Marketing. Dr. Ortiz teaches Introduction to Marketing, E-Marketing, International Marketing, and Online Consumer Psychology and Behaviors. Before becoming an academic, she worked on practical research on customer profiles, economic impact, and market analyses.

Dr. Qian (Kenneth) Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Technology and Operations Management (TOM). His research focuses on revenue management & pricing, information, and platform design using Game Theory. In addition, he is interested in machine learning applications in revenue management. Dr. Zhang teaches Statistics and Data Mining courses.

Bio:  

Dr. John Joseph is a Professor of Strategy at the Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine. Dr. Joseph received his Ph.D. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. His research on organizational designs for better innovation, decision making, and growth has been published in the Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Annals, Harvard Business Review, Long Range Planning, Advances in Strategic Management, Academy of Management Proceedings, and other publications. He has also developed case studies on organizational design, innovation and strategic decision making. Dr. Joseph is the Senior Editor at Organization Science, an editorial board member at Strategic Management Journal, and the former editor of the Journal of Organization Design.
