MSIS Costs

Program Cost: $825 per credit/unit for in-state and out-of-state students (includes international students), approximately $28,050 for the program.

The program is also subject to campus auxiliary fees, including the student union fee, ASI fees, health center fees, and the student success fee. Please refer to the mandatory auxiliary fee page for a current listing of these fees.

Cost of Attendance Elements

Tuition and fees are paid directly to Cal Poly Pomona but are only a part of a student’s education costs.  The overall Cost of Attendance is broadly defined as the average cost to attend Cal Poly Pomona for one academic year, (which consists of the Fall and Spring semesters) and includes additional expenses ranging from transportation to books and course materials.

Here’s a breakdown of the cost of attendance elements you should take into consideration after tuition and fees:

  • Food and Housing
  • Transportation between campus, place of residence, and place of work
  • Books, course materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Personal Expenses
  • Dependent Care Expenses (for those who have one or more dependents)
  • Direct Loan origination fees (for those who borrow a Federal Direct loan)

Visit our Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships website for a full listing of the cost of attendance elements, to view our current standard cost of attendance budgets, and to learn about the variety of resources that may help reduce your overall costs.

Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships at Cal Poly Pomona is your main resource for questions related to paying for your education. They oversee the awarding and distribution of loans, grants, work-study funds, and coordination with other aid – such as scholarships.

Students who are pursuing a graduate degree may be eligible for the following types of aid:

You may apply for financial aid by filing the FAFSA.   You must complete a new or renewal aid application for each academic year you wish to be funded. When completing your aid application, include Cal Poly Pomona as the college you want your information sent to. Our School Code is 001144

If you are eligible for private education loans only, you do not need to file a FAFSA. These loans are borrowed directly from a lending institution.

Be sure to visit the Cal Poly Pomona Office of Financial Aid website for details on the following:

  • The current cost of attendance for one year
  • How to apply for financial aid
  • Details on each type of aid
  • When financial aid is released
  • How to remain eligible for aid:
    • Enrollment requirements and financial aid
    • Impact of withdrawals on your aid
    • Satisfactory Academic Progress for financial aid recipients

The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, the CSU must reserve the right, even after initial payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees, without notice, until the date for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor, or the Presidents, as appropriate. Changes in mandatory systemwide fees will be made in accordance with the requirements of the Working Families Student Fee Transparency and Accountability Act (Sections 66028 - 66028.6 of the Education Code).

In addition, the MSIS program provides merit-based scholarships to first year MSIS students, and MSIS students who pass industry certification exams have a chance to receive awards.
