Employment Opportunities at the Center for Customer Insights and Digital Marketing
Overview
The Center for Customer Insights and Digital Marketing nurtures the professional growth of students through on-campus employment opportunities. The experience is intended to give students a real-world experience in research, digital marketing, and customer analytics, which will prepare them for the matching positions in the industry or for graduate programs that require students’ demonstrated abilities to do research. There are three groups of jobs for the student workers in the lab: (1) Research, (2) Digital Marketing, and (3) Customer Analytics. These positions are open to all majors across the campus throughout the year.
Research Assistantship (RA) is normally provided to graduate students in most academic institutions, but the Center for Customer Insights and Digital Marketing brings this opportunity to highly motivated undergraduate students. The Center maintains about 20 positions throughout the year, so becoming an RA is a competitive and highly selective process. Currently, the RA opportunity is the entry-level position for the Research Group. In addition, successful RA’s may be promoted to Research Associate or Research Lead after moving up a couple phases in the Learn Through Discovery (LTD) program. Experienced applicants may be hired for an advanced position. Likewise, successful job holders under the Digital Marketing or Customer Analytics group may be promoted to Assistant Lead or Lead within the group. See profiles of current interns. You can also see the CCIDM Internship Program Alumni members who went through the internship program.
All positions are renewable upon successful completion of each semester. Most RAs present or publish the research they were involved in as co-authors of faculty members, which are incredibly valuable skills needed for graduate programs and for off-campus data analytics/customer insights jobs. See our job placement record.
The Center provides an excellent opportunity for growth through training, mentorship, and networking, paving the way for advancement to prestigious graduate schools or employment at world-class market research companies. Interested students should apply now with the application package specified under the application section (cover letter, resume, transcript, a writing sample, and letter of recommendation [optional]) via email to Dr. Jae Jung at jmjung@cpp.edu.
- Research Position: Research experience will put you in a completely different league of graduates with a bachelor's degree whether you want to get a job or apply to graduate schools.
- Once selected, RA’s will be allowed to enroll in IBM 4000 (Upper Division Special Topics: Research Proposal Development), IBM 4000 (Upper Division Special Topics: Data Analysis and Report Writing), IBM 4192 (Data Mining for Marketing Decisions), IBM 4202 (Marketing Analytics), or IBM 4992H (Honors Project) and use the experience to fulfill the course requirements.
- Research Assistants will learn a number of research skills utilizing software, such as Qualtrics, SPSS, SmartPLS, R, Stata, and Excel functions.
- Research Assistants will be involved in a research project supported with a grant, present research findings to student/professional conferences. In particular, RA's will receive opportunities to present research findings together with the faculty in international conferences and further publish an article to a peer reviewed journal that is read around the world to promote dissemination of knowledge. See past RAs achievements.
- Exceptional undergraduate students are qualified to apply directly to Ph.D. programs. A track record of research will serve as a testimony for the students' ability to perform well in the program. Thus, research experience is a must for those who apply to prestigious masters and doctoral programs.
- All RA’s are considered a lifetime member of the center and will be given the support they need for their future endeavors.
- In addition, exceptional Research Assistants will be promoted to higher-level positions (see Job Groups and Descriptions section) with additional responsibilities and opportunities.

- Center job position holders will be given the opportunity to develop their professionalism for the job position and will be assisted in workshop preparation and presentation as a way of demonstrating their knowledge in the topic of their choice. The center may produce a video of the workshop and host it under the Virtual Workshop site for an outstanding workshop. See the samples of workshops by former interns.
- Center job holders are also invited to serve on the Analytics and Marketing Insights Club’s Executive Board as the president, vice president, and directors to develop their leadership skills and network with professionals such as those from the Insights Association.
