AMM Student Wins Writing Prize

An apparel merchandising and management student was one of four winners of a Cal Poly Pomona campus-wide writing contest.

Angela Becerril submitted a prize-winning entry for the Common Read Writing Contest.

Entries could be either be a personal reflection or a review of “The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together” by author Heather McGhee, the book chosen for Cal Poly Pomona’s 2023-24 Common Read.

For her efforts, Angela received a $150 Bronco Gift Card sponsored by the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation and an additional $375 sponsored by the University Library.

Angela and the other contest winners were acknowledged at the Feb. 12 Common Read Event before the keynote address by McGhee.
