- Professors Jean Gipe and Betty Tracy begin development of AMM degree and ATRC
Spring 1992
- Apparel Technology and Research Center (ATRC) established
1991-1995
- Extensive regional and national industry consultation to develop a program for industry managers
- Completion of University and CSU system approval process for new AMM degree
- Completion of Department of Defense-Defense Logistics Agency(DoD-DLA) research contract paperwork for ATRC
September 1995
- Approval of AMM degree received – Professor Tracy, Program Director
- Approval of $10+ million DoD-DLA contract received – Professor Gipe, ATRC Director
January 1996
- First group of AMM students admitted – total 39 students
- DoD-DLA contract includes remodeling of Bldg. 45, the “home” for AMM and the ATRC
1997
- Apparel Production Option receives Apparel Manufacturer’s Association (now American Apparel & Footwear Association) professional accreditation –one of only 13 programs in the US
- AMM and ATRC occupy newly remodeled Bldg. 45 labs and offices
2001
- AMM becomes a stand-alone department within the College of Agriculture
- DoD-DLA contract closes ATRC
2004
- Professor Tracy retires
- Professor Gipe becomes AMM Chair
2006
- 10 th anniversary enrollment – 245
- Dr. Kilduff begins as AMM Chair
2007
- Professor Gipe retires
2015
- Dr. Regan retires
2017
- Dr. Tucker retires
- Dr. Senanayake becomes Interim AMM Chair
